KTI provided drilling, laboratory testing and geotechnical engineering services on this project after initiation of construction pursuant to a change in the project’s “geotechnical engineer of record”. Fontana Shale (a bedrock unit subject to significant swelling upon exposure to air), the identification of suitable bearing surfaces for high capacity drilled shafts, the evaluation and field design of drilled/grouted tiebacks for temporary excavations systems, and an assessment of the compressibility properties of a lightweight “geofoam” material for fill overlying an existing sewer tunnel. Work associated with this project was undertaken for the period 2003-2005.

Materials testing and Special Inspection including drilled piers, foundations, reinforcing steel, structural concrete, structural steel, structural welding, masonry and soil for construction of a new law enforcement training academy complex and patrol station in Kansas City, Missouri. The Kansas City Police Department Academy is a $26 million multi-building facility in Kansas City, Missouri. The 3-story main building includes an upper level indoor running track, gymnasium, 300-seat auditorium and reception area, multi-purpose classrooms, a video studio and additional support functions. A separate building houses a 30-lane indoor firing range, classrooms and firearms repair shop. Other features of the campus include a simulation training building, a 1.1-mile driving track with an observation tower and garage, skid pad and an outdoor firing range. Currently under construction, completion is scheduled for Spring 2007.

Materials testing and inspection including masonry and concrete for historical renovations to the exterior of the Jackson County Courthouse in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

KTI provided geotechnical services including drilling, laboratory testing and engineering analysis regarding the proposed housing developments located at Richards Gebaur Airport in Belton, Missouri. The project involves the construction of multiple single-family housing units for support of their base personnel.
